The first Unmanned Aircraft System Remote Pilot Training Program offered through LLCC-Medical District began Friday on campus. First was a basic flight class including unpacking, charging and setting up the drone; completing safety inspections and flight plans; adjusting the drone settings and syncing with the phone; and basic flight maneuvers. Saturday, the class spent the day exploring in-depth drone features. Sunday was a wrap-up of skills and emergency procedures. The nine students are from various backgrounds and are enrolled for personal interest, resume-building and/or career enhancement (real estate, sports marketing, social media). Students are FAA certified prior to flying in class.
An advanced class will take place on campus Nov. 12-13: https://www.llcc.edu/unmanned-aircraft-training.
