LLCC is offering the Google IT Support Certificate, a program designed to prepare students for an entry-level role in IT support, one of the country’s fastest growing fields.
The Google IT Support Certificate program is led by an instructor and includes courses on troubleshooting, customer service, networking, operating systems, system administration and security. “We are excited to offer this timely career training opportunity to residents of the LLCC district,” says Brenda Elliott, director of apprenticeship programming at LLCC. “A job in IT can mean in-person or remote helpdesk work, either in a small business or at a global company. Whether you’ve been tinkering with IT or are completely new to the field, this program may be your ticket to a new career!”
No experience is required to enroll in the program. Students will receive the Google IT Support Certificate upon successful completion, and program content is designed to prepare students to take the CompTIA A+ exam to achieve CompTIA A+ Certification.
“LLCC’s apprenticeship programming office will contact businesses to connect students to open helpdesk positions,” says Elliott. “Students in this program will also have access to an IT recruiter and LLCC’s Career Services to help build resumes, participate in mock interviews and get job search tips.”
“Businesses are stressing that soft skills are an integral part of this occupation, so we’ve included a bonus online course, ‘Career Development Soft Skills,’ that can be taken at the same time or after certificate completion,” says Paula Luebbert, LLCC assistant vice president of corporate/government training.
The certificate program runs Oct. 4, 2021 through Feb. 7, 2022 and will be offered in a hybrid format. In-person classes meet Mondays at LLCC’s Medical District location at 130 W. Mason St. Remote classes will be conducted on Thursday evenings. More details and registration information are available at www.llcc.edu/medical-district.
