LLCC is launching a series of LateStart classes along with a hotline to assist students looking for options this fall in light of COVID-19.
Recognizing that some four-year college and university students may be staying home because their schools have cancelled in-person classes, and other students may have missed LLCC’s fall registration deadlines due to challenges brought on by the pandemic, LLCC will offer a full array of LateStart classes. Twelve-week transfer and career/tech courses will begin Sept. 21, and eight-week transfer and career/tech courses will begin Oct. 19. All of the courses can be completed by the end of the fall semester in mid-December.
A hotline has been set up at 217-394-5580 (text), 217-786-2227 (phone) and latestart@llcc.edu (email) for students to discuss their options. Students contacting the hotline can communicate with specialists about the enrollment process, payment options and financial aid. A list of available LateStart classes and more information are available at www.llcc.edu/latestart.
“LLCC is here to help any student who could benefit from these classes that start later and finish faster than the regular semester classes,” said Dr. Vern Lindquist, vice president of academic services. “That includes not only current college students whose situations have changed, but those who want to add an additional class to their schedule, adults looking for a career change and even homeschooled high school students.
“By offering these LateStart classes, we want to help students stay safe, save money and stay on track with their educational goals.”
Each LateStart class will be offered in one of LLCC’s current formats:
- Online – with no set meeting times
- Remote – online via Zoom or other technology with set meeting times
- Face-to-face – traditional in-classroom or lab learning
- Flex – a combination of online, remote and face-to-face
