The LLCC Board of Trustees welcomed a new student trustee at Wednesday’s meeting. Travis McCullough of Springfield took the oath of office for a one-year term as student trustee on the LLCC Board of Trustees.
McCullough, a freshman psychology major, serves as the president of the LLCC Black Student Union and vice president of the Psychology Club, and was selected as the 2020 Homecoming King. Off-campus, he mentors at-risk youth at an afterschool program. Prior to college, he served in the United States Marine Corps.
McCullough was elected by the student body. LLCC Board Chair Wayne Rosenthal read a resolution in honor of retiring student trustee Aaliyah Kissick of Athens.
Eight individuals serve on the LLCC Board of Trustees, seven elected from the college district and the eighth elected from among LLCC students. Trustees represent residents of the college district to assure that the college is providing programs and services that meet the educational needs of the communities it serves.
Also announced were new officers of the LLCC Student Government Association (SGA). They are Ian Schneider of Mount Pulaski, SGA President; Tyler Ralph of Riverton, SGA Vice President; Dane Paige of Rochester, SGA Representative, Mathematics and Computer Science; and Alicia Brown of Auburn, SGA Representative, Social Sciences and Business.
