Lincoln’s birthday events

Illinois Freedom Project Exhibit in A. Lincoln CommonsIn observance of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, LLCC is hosting activities on campus and at Outreach Centers. On campus, the college is hosting the Illinois Freedom Project travelling exhibit through Feb. 13 in A. Lincoln Commons. The Illinois Freedom Project is a multimedia initiative that shares the stories of freedom through the lens of the people, places and events in Illinois history. Lincoln Home interpretive staff are also on campus today from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. talking about Lincoln and his time in Springfield, and there are opportunities to take a photo with a Lincoln reenactor from 8-9:30 a.m.

Today from noon to 2 p.m., LLCC-Litchfield is hosting an exhibit of Lincoln artifacts from the Historical Society of Montgomery County, and author Carol Alexander will be on hand at LLCC-Taylorville to share local Lincoln stories. LLCC-Jacksonville is holding a presentation from noon to 12:30 p.m. on Lincoln’s impact in Morgan County. Throughout the week, LLCC-Beardstown is featuring showings of the movie “Lincoln” and personally guided tours of the Old Lincoln Courtroom and Museum.
