Phishing scam tip: Check for spelling mistakes

If you notice mistakes in an email, it might be a scam. Cybercriminals are not known for their good grammar and spelling. Professional companies or organizations usually have a staff of copy editors that will not allow a mass email like this to go out to its users. Legitimate messages usually do not have major spelling mistakes or poor grammar. Read your emails carefully. If the email looks suspicious, disregard it and forward it to phishing@llcc.edu.

Phishing is a fraudulent attempt to obtain personal information from you, such as passwords, banking information, etc. and are most commonly sent to you by email.
