Jim Dietz recently won his 600th match as volleyball coach at LLCC.
Dietz reached the milestone Sept. 22 when the Loggers swept Kirkwood Community College 25-23, 25-20, 25-21 at the Parkland Invitational.
Dietz’s current record at LLCC is 422 wins and 186 losses. He has led the Loggers to the national NJCAA tournament three times, placing second in both 2015 and 2016 and 11th in 2012. He also coached the Loggers to eight region final appearances and 36 tournament titles.
Dietz, a native of Davenport, Iowa, previously coached at Effingham St. Anthony High School, where he remains the winningest coach.
“To me, the 600 wins says more about the girls I’ve coached,” said Dietz. “I am far prouder of where those young women have wound up, as accountants, a doctor, two national-level sales managers, stay-at-home moms, and even a college department head. That’s my goal for athletes: use sports for leadership, self-confidence, then go pursue your dreams. It makes it all worthwhile.”
