April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The Sexual Assault and Violence Education (SAVE) Task Force is hosting their second annual Sexual Assault Awareness Day of Action on April 4. The runway event is being held in A. Lincoln Commons from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., with a showing of The Hunting Ground (available thanks to the LLCC Library!) and a facilitated discussion beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Your help is needed to make this event successful! If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please sign up here by entering your name in the cell of the role and time slot you would like. For more information on what is expected in each volunteer role, please review the role description tab or contact Nicole Ralph at 62342. We also encourage faculty and staff to stop by the event and strongly encourage students to attend.
The event will consist of:
- “Walk the Runway in Her Shoes” runway show, where male participants are challenged to walk down the runway in heels (bring your own or choose from our collection). Judges will award the title of Runway Star to one student and one employee. Each Runway Star will receive a trophy and bragging rights!
- Educational area showcasing TED Talks andpPublic service announcements about preventing sexual assault. Adult coloring pages and popcorn will also be available.
- Representatives from the Prairie Center Against Sexual Assault will have a table discussing their resources and the event that inspired our runway show, “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes.”
- Cupcake fundraiser to support Prairie Center Against Sexual Assault
