Founders’ Day Saturday, Feb. 18, is a day to celebrate LLCC’s rich, 50-year history. The celebration begins at 1 p.m. in the Student Union: enjoy the LLCC Big Band with music through five decades of LLCC’s existence; and speakers including Board Chair Craig Findley, Drs. Charlotte Warren (current) and Robert Poorman (first) president, founding faculty member Bill Craig, and Brandon Lewis, current student trustee.
Watch as Phi Theta Kappa members reveal the contents of a 25-year-old time capsule buried on campus, and items they’ve chosen for the new capsule to be opened in the future!
A reception follows with a chance to purchase and have signed the new book, “50 Forward! The First 50 Years of Lincoln Land Community College,” along with other anniversary items.
Then, travel upstairs to the James S. Murray Gallery to view “Forward: An Anniversary Exhibition,” featuring 50 years of historic photos and artifacts, along with an oral history by LLCC history-makers. A committee has worked more than a year to gather and preserve these treasures.
Homecoming women’s and men’s basketball games in Cass Gym will begin at 1 and 3 p.m., with the new LLCC Athletic Hall of Famers introduced during men’s halftime.
