Bistro Verde, LLCC’s student-run café, will open for lunch and dinner for the spring 2017 semester beginning Wednesday, Jan. 25. The community is invited to experience food prepared and served by LLCC culinary arts, baking and pastry, and hospitality students. Bistro Verde will operate Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. as a casual “Cajun Bistro” from Wednesday, Jan. 25 through Tuesday, Feb. 28, with “Mediterranean” fine dining being offered Monday, March 20 through Thursday, April 27. More information and a sample menu is available at www.llcc.edu/bistro-verde.
The café’s dining room is staffed by students from the Dining Room Operations class, and food is prepared by students in the Food Production IV class. Desserts are created by students enrolled in the Advanced Baking and Pastry and Restaurant Desserts classes, while bread is supplied by the Artisan Breads class. Students are taught and supervised by an experienced team of professional culinary instructors. Students gain practical hands-on experience and learn about providing diners with high quality food and service to create a memorable dining occasion.
Reservations are encouraged and can be made by calling 786.2821 or emailing bistroverde@llcc.edu. Cash and debit or credit cards are accepted.
