LLCC alum and Springfield Mayor Jim Langfelder spoke to public speaking students in the class of Professor of Communication, Brenda Protz.
Langfelder told students about coming to LLCC as an adult and and getting his degree before transferring to UIS. He talked about the importance of communication in his daily life and gave students advice about giving their speeches, lessons he learned from taking speech at LLCC, as well as being involved in the local branch of Toastmasters.
“You should practice your speeches in front of a mirror three-five times; critique yourself with videos; and speak from the heart,” said Langfelder.
He said all of his speeches are made with prepared notes and delivered from the heart, which he believes makes for a better presentation.”
Langfelder talked with the class about the recent election with president-elect Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton and offered insight into the campaigning process and what goes into play.
