Lincoln Land Community College is celebrating Campus Sustainability Day Wednesday, Oct. 26. The public is invited to join a campus sustainability tour and attend “Lunch and Learn” at the LLCC-Springfield campus, 5250 Shepherd Road.

The campus sustainability tour will begin at the Workforce Careers Center at 10 a.m. Discover what’s green about our campus while enjoying time outside on this walking tour. Highlights include the community garden and high tunnels, native prairie and bee hives. In addition, information about the LLCC Green Center will be on display outside A. Lincoln Commons and the campus community will have the opportunity to contribute to sidewalk chalk art.

“Lunch and Learn” will take place at noon at the outdoor classroom located next to Sangamon Hall.  Bring your lunch and learn about energy efficiency and cost-saving opportunities currently available to area residents. A representative from Elevate Energy, a nonprofit organization, will help you understand how basic changes in building design, maintenance and monitoring can decrease energy use and create savings.  Free snacks will be available.
