LLCC Theatre collaborates with Theatre in the Park to present “Treasure Island” May 20, 21*, 22, 26, 27 and 28 in Kelso Hollow at Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site.
The production is adapted and directed by Mark Hardiman, LLCC professor of theatre, from Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic pirate tale. Tickets are available by calling 217.632.5440 or visiting www.theatreinthepark.net.
*The May 21 performance will feature a pre-show discussion beginning at 7 p.m. with director Mark Hardiman, professor of theatre; Deborah Brothers, Ph.D., professor of English; and Melinda Pitt-Kaye, adjunct instructor of music and sound composer/designer for the production.
The cast includes Avery Biggs, John Olmstead, Tom Richardson, Elizabeth Ross, Shiloh Wheeler, Becky Wheeler, Devon R. Swafford and Matthew S. Williams, all of Springfield; Mitch Fesser of Fillmore; Brian Fortkamp of Nokomis; Brock Moore, Virden; August Roy, Murrayville; Shannon E. Murphy, Mechanicsburg; Mike Krcil, Sherman; and Bryce Robertson, Auburn.
In addition to Hardiman, the staff includes Melinda Pitt Kaye, Ashley Merrick, John Olmstead and Ang Wetmore of Springfield; MacKenzie Lyons of Sherman; Kennideigh McKee of Stonington; August Roy of Murrayville; and Katie Eickhoff of Peoria.
LLCC Theatre is committed to education in theatre, emphasizing not only performance but also growth in those involved in the production. Those participating may choose to register for college credit or participate through LLCC’s Community Education program.
