Faculty, staff and students are invited to the first LLCC Video Game Design Tournament Thursday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons. Seven student teams are finalizing their work and will be ready to show the college community their games. Tournament attendees will have access to try out the games and use their smartphones to vote for best game, most innovative game and most enjoyable game. Student teams can win prizes provided by sponsors including an iPod Touch, flash drives, portable hard drives, graphic tablets, studio headphones and 3D modeling/rendering software. Many students on the teams are enrolled in the Video Game Design I course taught by Matt Shaver, professor of digital media. Some team members have completed art or music courses to complement their team, and some student teams have reached out to friends in the music department, tapping into their creative energies to create both music and sound effects. Jason Waddell, associate professor of music, will provide live music via his improv band at the event. Don’t miss it!
