Melissa Pitt Kaye was named the 2015 Outstanding Adjunct Instructor. Melinda teaches music for the Arts and Humanities Department.
One student commented, “She’s so enthusiastic that she makes me want to learn! She presents material by sharing interesting historical facts and stories. Her explanations are very clear and concise. It is obvious that she thoroughly enjoys what she is teaching!
One of her colleagues stated, “Students really enjoy her method of teaching with her sense of humor and fun-loving, extroverted qualities. She makes the classroom interesting by drawing on many musical experiences. Her recitals and concerts are always reflective of the joy of music and her diverse use of instruments and people.”
She has been teaching at LLCC since 1992 having taught more than 400 hours. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Millikin University, a Master of Music degree from Southern Methodist University and a Master of Arts degree in Community Arts Management from the University of Illinois Springfield. Her experience is extensive and varied. In addition to her teaching, she has directed major musical productions and performed in theatrical and opera productions.
