A Community Open House will be held Monday, Aug. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the newly renovated North Building at LLCC-Taylorville, 800 South Spresser. Refreshments will be served, and LLCC-Taylorville staff will provide guided tours of new spaces where students will enroll, purchase textbooks, access computers/printers and complete testing beginning this fall. Of special interest is the state-of-the-art Mac lab, where new classes in digital media, photography and computer art will be offered. Faculty and advisors will also be on hand to answer questions.
The 40-year-old building originally housed a factory and was remodeled in 1994 to house LLCC’s Eastern Region Education Center. As the center grew, temporary, modular structures were added for classroom space. In 2011, the college opened a new classroom building, and the renovation of the original, North Building over the past year now brings the entire campus into the modern era.
“LLCC’s commitment to the Taylorville community is evident in the excellent, new facilities it is providing to local students,” said Scott Stallman, associate vice president, LLCC outreach. “We hope everyone will come out on Aug. 10 to join in our excitement for these new spaces, which will greatly enhance our educational services.”
