Mac Squibb and Amanda Monke selected for Phi Theta Kappa All-Illinois Academic Team

Jonathan “Mac” Squibb of Chatham and Amanda Monke of Springfield were selected as Lincoln Land Community College’s representatives on the 2015 Phi Theta Kappa All-Illinois Academic Team. Community colleges in Illinois select two students yearly for the prestigious honor. Honorees were recognized at a banquet in Springfield April 28, sponsored by the Illinois Community College System.

Squibb, a computer science and mathematics major, serves as president and founder of the LLCC Robotics Club. He also serves as president of the LLCC Honors Program and vice president of the Alpha Epsilon Kappa chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. During the summer, Squibb will be researching for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Sandia National Laboratories in California.

Monke, an English major, serves as president of the LLCC English Studies Club, which she reinstated in 2014. She also serves as the vice president of the LLCC Honors Program and a student representative on the Honors Council. Monke plans to transfer to Missouri Baptist University in the fall to pursue a degree in English.

Phi Theta Kappa is the leading academic honor society for students at two-year colleges. Students are eligible for membership with grade point averages of 3.5 or above.
