Fourteen second-year nursing students from Lincoln Land Community College’s Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program were inducted recently into the Beta Nu Chapter of the National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (NOADN) Alpha Delta Nu Honor Society. The students had to maintain stringent academic requirements and complete a capstone community education project to be eligible for membership.
Students were honored at a special ceremony April 9 at the LLCC-Springfield campus. The students received a certificate, an Alpha Delta Nu Honor Society pin and peach honor cords to wear at commencement.
Mary Goldstein, nursing professor and chapter co-faculty advisor, stated, “These students have demonstrated a continued commitment to professionalism, integrity and academic excellence in the profession of nursing. Their dedication will have a positive impact on healthcare in this community.”
The 2015 inductees are: Laura K. Britton, Edinburg; Sarah Kincaid, Glenarm; Brittany Jett, Litchfield; Jennifer Putnam, Nokomis; Melissa Klein, Pawnee; Kelsey C. Lee, Riverton; Mindy Burton, Abbie DuPont, Marie Gum, Sherri Kerz, Kendra Nein, Michelle Petersen, all of Springfield; Allison Bagby and Alyssa Wagoner,Taylorville.
The objective of the NOADN Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honor Society is to recognize the academic excellence of students in the study of Associate Degree Nursing. The society encourages the pursuit of advance degrees in the profession of nursing as well as continuing education as a lifelong professional responsibility. The society also participates in the recruitment of qualified individuals into the nursing profession.
