The week of March 4-6, the Illinois Adult and Continuing Educators Association (IACEA) annual state conference for Adult Education was held in Springfield. Nineteen LLCC instructors and staff attended sessions during the three-day conference. One of LLCC’s ESL instructors, Hannah Bonifacius, attended on a scholarship from the Secretary of State Literacy office after submitting an application and essay. She is on the far right in the attached photo of other scholarship winners. In addition to paying her conference fee, she attended a dinner with the literacy director and staff.
Anita Kerr, adult education coordinator, and Lyn Buerkett, director, Adult Education and Literacy, presented at the conference, as part of a panel on taking literacy projects to the next level, and Angela Gerberding, ESL coordinator, presented a session on English Language Civics.
