The LLCC James S. Murray Gallery invites all faculty, staff, students and community members to display their artworks during the month of December at an exhibit called “A Community Sketchbook.”

Exhibitors are welcome to tack their piece of visual art (or short prose or poetry) to the grey walls of the gallery to create a temporary, transmutable mural and tribute to the creativity of the LLCC community. “A Community Sketchbook” will be open for contributions beginning Dec. 1. All pieces must be able to be pinned to the walls, with pins provided by the gallery (no nails may be used.) The gallery cannot accommodate framed or stretched work. Also, when entering into the conversation, artists are asked to consider the audience. The gallery director reserves the right to edit any offensive or inappropriate material. Insurance cannot be provided for this show.

Simultaneously on display at the center of the gallery will be a show of tin foil hat designs from Dr. John Vinzant’s Introduction to Politics classes. Every hat is accompanied with a short statement explaining the “conspiracy” from which the design of the hat will protect the wearer. An award will go to the best tin foil hat design/conspiracy combination.

Participants in both shows must collect their work from the gallery before Dec. 18 at 4 p.m. Work remaining after that time becomes the property of the gallery. For more information, contact Leslie Stalter, art professor.
