The LLCC Board of Trustees had reason to celebrate at its April 23 meeting: The Higher Learning Commission has reaffirmed the accreditation of the college, and the Green Building Council has awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Award to the college’s Workforce Careers Center.

Board Chair Justin Reichert congratulated college faculty and staff on the reaffirmation of accreditation. “This good news is the culmination of several years of hard work by our AQIP (Academic Quality Improvement Program) team and many faculty and staff involved in strategy forums, action projects and systems appraisals. It demonstrates the college’s commitment to continuous quality improvement and compliance with criteria for accreditation.”

The next reaffirmation of accreditation will be in the 2020-21 academic year.

Prior to the board meeting, Chair Reichert, accompanied by trustees, unveiled the LEED Silver plaque in the Workforce Careers Center. LEED certification identifies the building as “a showcase example of sustainable design.”
