The United Way Committee will have a table at today’s luncheon to accept your pledge forms. Blank pledge forms will also be available along with a display of all of the gift cards to be given away at today’s ice cream social beginning at 4 p.m. Everyone who fills out their pledge form by that time will have their name put in a drawing for multiple gift cards. Hope to see you there, and thank you for considering a gift to help charities and local agencies that help those in need.
Everyone who fills out a pledge form for the LLCC Employee Giving Program through United Way on or before tomorrow at 4 p.m. (Professional Development Day) has a chance to win one of 20+ $10 gift cards to Starbucks, iTunes and more! Drawings will be held at the ice cream social tomorrow. The United Way Committee will have a table at Cass Gym where you can view the gift cards and turn in your pledge forms. Thank you for your gift that helps those in need right here in our own community.
All donations, great and small, can have a substantial impact on our local community. Payroll deduction (LLCC has 24 pay periods per year) is a convenient way to contribute. A donation of $5 per pay can prevent multiple families in need from being without electricity or hot water. A donation of $10 per pay can feed a healthy, family-style dinner to 60 food-insecure children. A donation of $20 per pay can buy clothes and personal items for students who are victims of disaster. For many of us, there are not enough hours in the day to tend to professional and personal obligations. Contributing to United Way is an opportunity to help local agencies who are able to devote their time to assisting those who are in need in our community. LLCC has provided us with an easy, accessible way to give back to our community.
The campaign is underway and ends on Friday, Nov. 10. If you haven’t given before, please consider making a donation today either through payroll deduction or a one-time gift. If you have given in the past, thank you! We hope you will give again. Any contribution will make a great difference. Please consider making one today. Thank you!
Mercy Communities. American Red Cross, South Central Chapter. Contact Ministries. Senior Services of Central Illinois. Sojourn Shelter and Services. United Cerebral Palsy Land of Lincoln. Compass for Kids. These are a few of the United Way of Central Illinois Funded Programs you can assist by donating to the Employee Giving Program administered by United Way. Please check your LLCC mailbox for a letter from President Charlotte Warren, a complete list of funded programs and your pledge form. Return the form to your representative listed below by Friday, Nov. 10. Everyone who fills out a form on or before Nov. 7 (Professional Development Day) will be entered in a drawing for a number of gift cards. You’ll also receive a sticker for a jeans day of your choosing. Thank you for considering a gift to LLCC’s community giving program through United Way.

Each of us at LLCC plays a vital role in improving the lives of district residents through education and services. In our roles, we often see students and co-workers facing life challenges and going through rough times. That’s when important community services and agencies kick in to help. So once again, I am asking you to consider a gift to help those in need in our communities.
This year’s LLCC Campaign through United Way will be Oct. 30-Nov. 10. Your gift is distributed to multiple local agencies that provide senior citizens with home delivered meals, shelter for domestic violence victims, mentoring for at-risk youth, and much more. The LLCC Campaign through United Way also allows you to designate your gift to any qualified 501(c)3 agency or agencies throughout our district and beyond.
Many of your colleagues choose monthly payroll deduction as a convenient way to give to this campaign. Your monthly deductions, added to those of others, keep these vital services going in the midst of funding challenges faced by many social service agencies.
We have some new incentives for you this year! All donors receive a “free jeans day” sticker, candy and pen. Also, your name goes in a drawing for multiple gift cards to be given away on Professional Development Day Tuesday, Nov. 7. Anyone who fills out their pledge form or makes a gift by that day at the event will be eligible for the gift card drawing.
Thank you for considering a gift to the LLCC Campaign through United Way. Please fill out the form in your campus mailbox and return it to your group representative listed below.
Sincerely,
Charlotte Warren, President

Due to some later donations, we are happy to report a new total of $16,567 donated to the United Way of Central Illinois this fall from LLCC. Thank you to our 64 generous donors.
The LLCC United Way employee campaign raised $16,207 this year to assist members of the community in need. The United Way Committee thanks our 62 generous donors, and also those who participated in the LLCC-Jacksonville fundraiser, which raised $220 of that amount. Thank you also to Christi Hustedt and Student United Way for stuffing envelopes and providing goody bags for donors. And, congratulations again to our gift basket winners Vanessa Avery, Dr. Mark Roehrs, Cynthia Burger, Dave Sykes and Paula Luebbert.
Appreciatively, United Way Committee
Tiffany Andrews, Nicole Ralph, Greg Walbert, Tara Walk, Lynn Whalen
These donors to the LLCC employee United Way campaign won gift baskets yesterday in a random drawing. Congratulations! Baskets were donated by members of the United Way Committee.
Cynthia Burger: Backyard BBQ, donated by Tiffany Andrews, Classified Staff Dave Sykes: Art Party, donated by Greg Walbert, Professional Staff Mark Roehrs: Jackpot of Cash, donated by Tara Walk, Faculty Paula Luebbert: Chocolate and Wine Date Night, donated by Nicole Ralph, Administrative Staff Vanessa Avery: Trader Joe’s Favorites, donated by Lynn Whalen, campaign coordinator
Totals for the campaign will be announced later this week. If you missed making a donation, you can still turn in your pledge form this week to your group representative.
Here’s what you could win if you donate to LLCC’s United Way campaign! All donors are put in a drawing to win one of five gift baskets:
“Trader Joe’s Favorites,” “Jackpot of Cash,” “Backyard BBQ,” “Art Party for 2” and “Wine and Chocolate Date Night.”
Most importantly, here’s what Professional Staff representative Greg Walbert writes, “I hear the words that Andrew Dewey shared in the luncheon keynote on Professional Development Day… (paraphrasing) “you never know the situation or circumstances the persons here in the classrooms and in the hallways are having to deal with.” It’s exciting and inspirational to know there are individuals working hard, here at LLCC, to make a positive difference for them. There are individuals and organizations throughout the district also working hard to make a positive and life-changing difference in the lives of so many others all around us. We GET TO come alongside them and partner in that work.
Please consider extending the grace and generosity you have shown to those here, to those just a little outside your reach through the United Way. There is a generous spirit here at LLCC that is easy to be proud of.”
The LLCC United Way Campaign concludes tomorrow. Please return your pledge form to your group representative, or call them and they’ll get a form to you!
