LLCC is collaborating with the State of Illinois to host a Career Fair on May 1 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Student Union in Menard Hall. This is an opportunity for our students to learn about careers with the State of Illinois as well as the State hiring process. Three career fairs held last week

LLCC held career fairs on campus this past Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, LLCC’s nursing program offered students with opportunities to connect with 15 leading health care providers and explore diverse pathways within the nursing profession. The Workforce Institute Career Fair was also held on Thursday with 62 employers and featured students in welding, HVACR, construction, truck driver training, electrical distribution linemen, automotive technology, diesel technologies, commercial electrical maintenance and industrial technology. The Info Tech Expo was held Friday and provided the opportunity for 16 employers to showcase advancements in technology and computer science and to connect students with careers in the IT industry.

LLCC partners with Handshake, which is the most popular online platform linking college students and graduates to thousands of jobs and internships. Over 1,100 employers are linked to LLCC on Handshake and interested in hiring you. Students should use their LLCC email to activate their Handshake account and experience LLCC’s first-rate job board.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate National Career Development Month in November. We are very thankful for all of the volunteers, LLCC Facilities and PRM for making our events and initiatives successful. A special thank you to the Student Government Association for helping students sign up for Handshake during National Career Development Week activities. We had great participation with the My Story posters at all of our locations, and we clearly have an incredibly diverse and talented group at LLCC. We look forward to celebrating again next year in November.

It is National Career Development Week! The LLCC Career Center is hosting “Get Career Ready,” four days of fun activities Nov. 13-16. The Student Government Association (SGA) has partnered with the Career Center to promote Handshake, and members of SGA will be at every event to help students activate their accounts. Faculty and staff are encouraged to join in on the fun each day and help support and engage with our students during the Get Career Ready activities.

“Teamwork Makes the Dreamwork” in A. Lincoln Commons, Large Lounge — Faculty and staff are invited to check out the Master the Cup Challenge. Students will join in this entertaining game and experience first-hand the role of teamwork in accomplishing what seems like a simple task. Students will be invited to get in on the Handshake action. Sign up to volunteer for Nov. 14.

“Hired or Not? You Be the Judge” in the A. Lincoln Commons Rotunda — Everyone will get a kick out of the improv job interviews! See faculty, staff and students get it right (or wrong), and support students who get to be judge and tell us “what went wrong.” Grab some popcorn and enjoy the show! Note: We need faculty and staff actors for our improv. Don’t be shy! Contact Marina Wirsing or sign up to volunteer for Nov. 15.
