Logo-target-nostarIn celebration of the college’s 50th anniversary in 2017, the LLCC Foundation is introducing the SteppingSTONES recognition brick program.  You can be among the first to purchase an engraved 4” x 8” brick with the inscription of your choice for $100 or an 8” x 8” brick paver for $250.

Proceeds benefit the LLCC Foundation’s Grow Beyond Endowment Fund which assists students through scholarships and emergency, short-term help, responds quickly to new initiatives, and creates flexible, state-of-the-art learning environments.

UCB helps Foundation Pay it Forward Fund

United Community Bank branches held a casual day to raise funds for the LLCC Foundation’s Pay it Forward Fund with $1,032 raised for student emergency needs. The Pay it Forward Fund was established by an LLCC Foundation board member to support emergency student needs, allowing our students to stay in the classroom. We are grateful to our community friends at United Community Bank for their generous support of LLCC students!

 

LEAGUE Committee Seeking New Members

The Foundation is recruiting new members for the LEAGUE Committee (the annual faculty and staff giving campaign) and we would love to have you serve!  We have a great group that helps choose the theme and plan the activities for the LEAGUE Campaign each year.  The committee meets once a month beginning in October thru March and serves for at least two years.  We ask the following of committee members:

  • Attend the one-hour monthly committee meetings (October – March). We will try to accommodate your schedule.
  • Participate by serving on a sub-committee that may meet once or twice
  • Help the day of the kickoff luncheon which is Tuesday, March 28, 2017 next year
  • Make a contribution to the LEAGUE Campaign.  The amount is entirely up to the person.  It can be $1, $1 per pay or more!

LLCC Trutter Museum to open “Trutter: Black and White” exhibit Sept. 30

The Philip and Mary Kathryn Trutter Museum at LLCC is celebrating the opening of a new exhibit, “Trutter: Black and White,” on Friday, Sept. 30. The opening reception is being held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Trutter Center on the Springfield campus. The public is invited.

“Trutter: Black and White” is the seventh exhibit in the museum and is being sponsored by Frye-Williamson Press, Inc. This exhibit will feature photographs of Springfield landmarks designed by Philip Trutter and his associates during his career as an architect, as well as black and white artifacts collected by the Trutters during their worldwide travels. Two LLCC Foundation scholarships benefit from upcoming fundraisers

Two LLCC Foundation scholarships will be the beneficiaries of upcoming fundraisers, both set for Friday, July 8, in Springfield.


The 10th and final Jake Lessen Memorial Golf Outing at the Rail Golf Club will once again support the Jake Lessen Firefighter Memorial Scholarship.  All proceeds benefit the LLCC scholarship as well as an area fire department.

Jake was pursuing an Associate in Applied Science degree in fire science technology at LLCC before his death on Sept. 4, 2006, when he was fatally injured in a motorcycle accident.  The annual $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a part-time student enrolled in one of LLCC’s Fire Science Technology programs.

Also on July 8, the Springfield Civic Garden Club will hold a dessert fundraiser to support the group’s  $1,000 annual LLCC Foundation scholarship which is awarded to a student majoring in an environmental related field of study.  The event will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Calvary Church, 501 West Hazel Dell Road in Springfield and coincides with the group’s Standard Flower Show.  A silent auction, live music and gourmet desserts by Pease’s at Bunn Gourmet will be featured.  Reservations can be made by calling 217.698.9647.  Click here for more details.

The Springfield Civic Garden Club was formed in 1929.  The objectives of the organization are to encourage the advancement of horticulture and creative design, to aid in civic beautification and to encourage conservation and protection of our natural resources.

 

Lincoln Land Community College Foundation 10th Annual Gala

Nearly 300 guests attended Lincoln Land Community College Foundation’s 10th annual Gala – The Great Gala – on Saturday, May 7 and celebrated in roaring twenties style!  Featuring a four-course gourmet meal prepared by LLCC’s culinary students under the direction of instructors, the event netted more than $60,000 to benefit the college’s students and educational programs.  Music was provided by LLCC’s Jazz and Big Bands.
