Have you seen the LEAGUE video?

Star-studded cast delivers fetch LEAGUE video

Review by Barbara Eades, LLCC Foundation

Featuring a star-studded cast of LLCC faculty and staff, the LEAGUE video will have you rolling in the aisles … or rolling your eyes anyway.

The first half of the video is downright hilarious, but then it takes a turn focusing on a more serious note as the true meaning of the LEAGUE campaign is revealed. Spoiler alert: LEAGUE is an acronym for Leaders Establishing Gifts Annual Underwriting Education and is actually a campaign for the benefit of our students and programs. We see cameos from Dr. Warren, Stacey Olson, Dean Butzow and others who help us navigate through the twists and turns of making a donation.

Do yourself a favor during this time of social distancing, and check out the LEAGUE 90s video. It’s three and half minutes of pure entertainment! We give it five stars!

Note: It’s not too late to make your contribution or pledge to the LEAGUE campaign. To date, approximately 100 faculty and staff have pledged nearly $40,000 to help our students. Contact the LLCC Foundation at llccfoundation@llcc.edu or call 786-2797.

Faculty and staff give back to students

Back to the 90s. LEAGUE. LLCC Foundation 2020Do you remember the 90s when Vanilla Ice and New Kids on the Block ruled the airwaves, Friends and Seinfeld were Da Bomb, and your new crush was all that and a bag of chips? This year’s 90s theme for the annual faculty and staff giving campaign, known as LEAGUE, was intended to bring some fun and nostalgia to events associated with the campaign. But even though faculty and staff weren’t able to join together for the kickoff, they still continue to support students by donating.

“When faculty, staff and students are allowed back on campus, we intend to bring a little joy back for our LLCC family,” says Karen Sanders, executive director of the LLCC Foundation. “We enjoy incorporating some fun and camaraderie into the faculty and staff giving campaign. But in all seriousness, it helps raise necessary funds for the benefit of students like Jason.”

Jason who dropped out of school in the 10th grade gained fame and fortune as a musician, but at the height of his career he experienced a debilitating back injury and was forced to come up with an alternate plan to support himself and his 12-year-old son. As a single father, enrolling in college in his mid-30s was not easy, but receiving a scholarship meant less time spent looking for income for car repairs, rent and food, and more time concentrated on his studies.

Donations to the LEAGUE campaign are used for scholarships, grants for projects and programs and for the college’s greatest needs. Every dollar donated is a dollar benefiting LLCC students.

2020 LEAGUE Incentive Items: $2 per pay - coaster, $7 per pay - t-shirt, $10 per pay - umbrella, $20 or more per pay - All items. The following logo branded incentive items are available based on the amount of the donation:

How you can help during this crisis: A message from LLCC Foundation

Thank you to all faculty and staff who have worked so hard to help our students continue their educational journey by means of alternative learning methods on our now virtual campus. Many people have asked if there is anything more they can do to help support our students during this unprecedented difficult time.

Please support our local businesses when you can. Our community partners including our alums need our support now and in the days to come to help get through this crisis so they can keep their doors open or re-open when the day comes. If however you are making purchases on Amazon, please use the AmazonSmile website and designate the LLCC Foundation to receive a portion of eligible purchases for the benefit of our students. Since we partnered with AmazonSmile, the LLCC Foundation has received nearly $2,000 thanks to your purchases. Please go to www.AmazonSmile.com to sign up for free.

Another means of support for our students is the Pay It Forward Fund, for student emergency assistance. Just last month, more than $5,700 was donated by donors, alumni, retirees, faculty and staff for the Pay It Forward Fund during our first ever Day of Giving. In the days ahead, this fund will be ever more important as our students face many obstacles and challenges related to the pandemic. Donations can be made anytime to the Pay It Forward Fund on-line at www.llccfoundation.org/donate.

Last week would have been the kickoff to our annual faculty and staff giving campaign known as LEAGUE. The LEAGUE Committee had great plans to relive the 90s during a luncheon celebration — but plans change. We are grateful to the faculty and staff who have already made their annual contributions to LEAGUE. Thank you! We hope that when we all return to campus we will be able to gather and participate in some fun activities. Until then, you can still make your annual donation to the LEAGUE Campaign by completing the 2020 Enrollment Form and forwarding it to the Foundation at LLCCFoundation@llcc.edu. As always the Foundation’s mission is to provide support for the benefit of our students and programs. Please feel free to contact me at 217-786-2784 or by email at Karen.Sanders@llcc.edu.
