PRM short video wins national award

AVA platinum statuettePRM’s “The School for the Job” :45 video recently received the highest level AVA (Audio-Visual Arts) Digital Award — a platinum for “Short form web video under three minutes.” Each entry is evaluated and scored by judges from AMCP, the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, the industry’s preeminent third-party evaluator of creative work.

New edition of FORWARD is here!

Cover of LLCC's April 2018 FORWARD magazineThe April edition of FORWARD magazine is now available online and will be mailed to all households in the district. Physical copies of the magazine are available in the lower level of Menard Hall. Read articles about the recent announcement of an $18 million trust established to benefit the LLCC ag department, and how LLCC is ready to help students find their future with programs including education, accounting, theatre, emergency services, surgical technology, biology, history and more! There is also a list of all LLCC programs, summer classes and community education classes.

LLCC hosts Illinois Community College Journalism Association conference

Tim McKenzie, professor of journalism and humanities, organized LLCC’s hosting of the Illinois Community College Journalism Association conference April 5-6. Sixty-one journalism students from eight community colleges in the state attended. Among the speakers were Lynn Whalen, executive director of public relations and marketing, along with a roundtable of LLCC journalism alumni Ryan Wilson (now studying broadcast journalism at UIUC), Leanna Churchill (now studying journalism/communication at UIS), Isaac Warren (now studying digital media at Greenville University) and Lukas Myers (a former journalism major now studying philosophy at Millikin University). Keynote speaker was Charlie Wheeler, director of the Public Affairs Reporting Program at UIS.

Next Campus Visit Day is June 12

Mark your calendars! The summer 2018 Campus Visit Day will be Tuesday, June 12 from 10 a.m.-noon.

Campus Visit Day is a special campus preview event designed for individuals interested in starting or finishing a college degree or certificate. The event includes informational presentations on how to get started with the enrollment process, how to pay for college and other information relevant to becoming a successful college student. Also, visitors can view exhibits and speak with LLCC representatives from various academic programs and student services. Brief tours are offered of Menard and Sangamon halls and the Workforce Careers Center. Refreshments are provided by LLCC Culinary Arts.

Two from PRM recognized by national marketing association

Kyla Kruse, assistant director, public relations, was awarded a competitive scholarship of $400 to attend the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) Annual Conference, March 18-20, where she was recognized for the honor. NCMPR is an affiliate council of the American Association of Community Colleges.

Lynn Whalen, executive director, public relations and marketing, was installed March 20 as vice-president/president-elect of the executive board of NCMPR.
