Jessica Ingold, youth programs coordinator, and two campers were interviewed Thursday for the evening news on WICS and FOX regarding College for Kids camps running during the month of July.

David Bowman, workforce development program coordinator, was interviewed by Dr. Clay Robinson of the American Society of Agronomy.

Robinson, who is revising content and testing requirements for ASA’s Certified Crop Advisor program, was on the LLCC campus to inspect Lake Springfield watershed innovations. LLCC’s soil lab bioreactor, along with 2 saturated buffer systems near Auburn, were video scripted for inclusion in their revised materials.

Dr. Charlotte Warren, president, and Cinda Edwards, former LLCC board chair, are featured in an article in this month’s Springfield Business Journal about their recent awards from the Illinois Community College Trustees Association.

LLCC students Niki and Dhiren Patel are featured in an article titled, “Go Near Go Far” in the June 30 edition of Jacksonville “The Source” newspaper.

The July/August Springfield’s Own (SO) magazine includes an article on the Culinary Institute’s summer pizza grilling class entitled, “A beer, a pizza and a grill: a perfect summer education.”

SO also includes a photo gallery from the LLCC Foundation Gala “The Great Gala.”

Jamie Stout, director, Community Education, along with Dr. Sam Wheeler, research historian at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, appeared on Fox 55’s Good Day Marketplace to discuss travel opportunities in September.

Drs. Charlotte Warren, president, and Lesley Frederick, vice president of student services, were interviewed for the July 10 business page in the State Journal-Register, regarding the new “Open Door” program starting this fall at LLCC. (See article above.)

Jolene Adams, coordinator, Culinary Institute, was interviewed by Illinois AgriNews on the current class being offered through the Illinois State Board of Education for daycare and elementary school cooks using farm-to-table ingredients.

WFMB news, WICS/FOX 55 and Illinois AgriNews covered the Illinois State Fair Wine Competition June 15 in the Workforce Careers Center.  Thirty finalists were chosen from 228 entries and represented many varieties, from sparkling to dessert wines. Judges were chef/sommeliers, wine makers from other states, and consumers, including Dr. Charlotte Warren, LLCC president.
