Information sessions on benefit options begin today

Yesterday kicked off open enrollment for benefit options. The following sessions are being offered to provide more information. They will be recorded and made available for viewing if you are not able to attend.

All benefit-eligible employees must access the new enrollment system, review their profiles and dependent information, review options available and make selections. To access the system, go to the HR Portal page and click on the PlanSource-Benefits Enrollment Platform icon in the top section. The system uses LLCC login credentials. Employees have until Thursday, June 10 to review options and make selections. HR is available to assist along the way.  If you would like to schedule a one-on-one Teams call to walk you through the platform, please contact HR.

Annual open enrollment process for benefit options begins today

The annual open enrollment process for all benefit options begins today, May 3, and ends Thursday, June 10. Please thoroughly review the Benefit Guide emailed by HR on Friday, April 30. It provides an overview of provided benefits, including premium information for health and dental insurance for the plan year beginning July 1, 2021.  You may also view this brief benefit summary video. Open enrollment offers the opportunity to make changes to all benefit options, including Voluntary Life and AD&D insurance, Long-Term Disability Insurance, Critical Illness Insurance and Accident Insurance. We are also introducing two new benefit programs: Vision Insurance and Hospital Indemnity Insurance.

Open Enrollment Process

We are excited to introduce a new benefits enrollment platform, PlanSource. PlanSource provides an easy-to-use, educational experience for benefits shopping and enrollment, with tools that will help you in your decision-making process.  As you make benefit enrollment decisions, you will be able to see what these decisions are costing you per pay. The platform is available to you throughout the year to view your current benefits, update beneficiaries and request changes due to life events.  All employees must access the open enrollment process to review your current benefits and what options available to you effective July 1, 2021. You will receive an email today, May 3, with more instructions on how to access the benefit enrollment system.

Benefit Information

Below is a summary of changes that will be implemented effective July 1, 2021.  Please go to PlanSource on or after May 3 to view more detailed information on each benefit program.

Health Insurance

  • SISCO will be the college’s new third party administrator (previously was Allied) for the processing of health insurance and flexible spending account claims. All employees enrolled in a LLCC health insurance plan will be receiving new health insurance cards to be used effective July 1. If you need your health insurance card on or after July 1 but have not yet received it, please contact HR for assistance.
  • The insurance committee recommended plan design changes in order to ensure premiums did not increase by more than 2.6%.  These changes include increases to the individual deductible and out-of-pocket maximums and the addition of a Specialty Rx tier under the Open Access Plan with a $200 copay. Family deductibles and OOPs remain unchanged. These changes are outlined below.
Coverage Component Open Access Plan High Deductible Plan
    Individual Deductible Tier I: $1,500
    Tier II: $1,800
    Tier III: $2,200
    $3,000
    Individual Out-of-Pocket Max Tier I: $3,000
    Tier II: $4,500
    Tier III: $5,800
    $6,000
    Specialty Rx Copay $200 N/A

Dental Insurance

Dental insurance will be offered through Sun Life effective July 1st.  The dental insurance benefit remains unchanged…same plan and benefit levels with no difference between in-network and out-of-network coverage.  All dental providers will be accepted.  With this change, we will see a slight decrease in premiums…good news!

Voluntary Life, AD&D and Long-Term Disability Insurance

This coverage is now offered through Sun Life. Program remains unchanged. The voluntary life insurance rates for ages 25-39, as well as the child life insurance rate will increase by $0.01 per $1,000 of coverage. All other rates remain unchanged.

Critical Illness Insurance and Accident Insurance

This coverage continues to be offered by Sun Life. Accident Insurance is now only for non-work related accidents (those are covered by worker’s comp insurance instead), but levels of reimbursement for many covered accidents have been increased, while premiums have decreased. Critical Illness Insurance has more qualifying conditions that are reimbursable, and some conditions, such as cancer, now have a recurrence benefit. You and your eligible dependents may enroll in these benefits.

Vision Insurance – New Benefit!

LLCC is now offering a standalone vision plan offered by Sun Life/VSP. Anyone enrolled in a LLCC health insurance plan has a modest vision benefit included. You and your eligible dependents may now enroll, instead, in this enhanced vision insurance plan. This plan is also available to employees who decline the LLCC health insurance.

Hospital Indemnity – New Benefit!

This benefit provides assistance for out-of-pocket medical costs associated with a hospital stay. You and your eligible dependents may enroll in this benefit.

Informational Sessions

If you wish to hear more about the college’s benefits or have questions, please attend one of the following sessions. These sessions will be recorded and made available for viewing if you are not able to attend.

Distinguished Service Award nominations due today at 5 p.m.

As a reminder, the deadline for Distinguished Service Award nominations is today, April 26, at 5 p.m. The nomination form is available on the HR portal. Please provide concrete, specific examples to support your nomination. Exemplary writing skills are not required! All nomination forms should be submitted to the LLCC Human Resources office.

The Distinguished Service Award is given to LLCC employees who demonstrate exemplary leadership and service to the college community, promote a student-focused environment and exhibit a strong commitment to the college’s core values. Service is a matter of the job. Leadership can be provided in subtle ways. This award recognizes those who provide service and leadership beyond the minimum. Nominations should clearly describe what qualities exhibited by the nominees — through their performance, attitude, behavior and action — put them in the elite class of “Distinguished Service Award Recipient.”

Recipients of the Distinguished Service Award will be selected from the nomination pool. If no one is nominated in a particular category, no award will be given. The committee does not widen the pool beyond those nominations received, so your nomination is important! The selection committee is comprised of past recipients of the award and other members of the college community. All employment classifications are represented.

For more information, please feel free to contact Kim Elder at 217-786-2214 or kimberly.elder@llcc.edu.

2021 Distinguished Service Award nominations due Monday

To nominate a colleague for the Distinguished Service Award, please submit the nomination form (available on HR portal), along with an essay about the nominee by Monday, April 19, 2021. The essay can be as long or short as you want it to be. The quality of the writing is not what is important; what is important is providing concrete examples of the areas identified in the nomination form. Simply stating that the nominee exhibits these qualities is not sufficient. The information provided in the essay will be the basis of the evaluation for the selection committee.
