CDC’s Conversations in Equity Blog

Professional development via LinkedIn Learning
LLCC Human Resources is currently seeking interested staff that may want to participate in a professional development program involving the use of LinkedIn Learning. LinkedIn Learning provides over 18,000 online courses and topics for professional development. Examples of topics include various computer applications (Microsoft 365), communication, office dynamics, emotional intelligence and leadership, just to name a few. This program will be coordinated by Alan Pasley, staff training and development coordinator.
By working with you in the development of a personal professional development plan, you will have access to a training plan allowing you to gain knowledge in areas that you have interest or feel as though you need to develop. Your training will be completed as your availability allows.

Additionally, on May 3 from 2-3 p.m., Alan Pasley will be available in Menard Hall 1179 to provide a demonstration and answer any questions you may have. Leadership and Team Building workshop April 19
LLCC Human Resources is providing a workshop on Leadership and Team Building Wednesday, April 19, 1-3 p.m., in Menard 1179.
This workshop is perfect for individuals who are looking to enhance their leadership skills and learn how to build effective teams. Participants will learn different leadership styles, how to inspire and motivate team members, and strategies for resolving conflicts within a team setting.

Presentation and discussion on reconstruction for those diagnosed with breast cancer
During National Minority Health Month, IBCCP and SIU School of Medicine are offering a presentation and open discussion regarding breast reconstruction for people who have been diagnosed with breast cancer or anyone interested in this topic. Nicole Z. Sommer, MD FACS, director of Cosmetic Center, Institute for Plastic Surgery at SIU School of Medicine, will provide information and be available for questions. Along with Dr. Sommer, the open discussion will include a breast cancer nurse navigator and breast cancer survivors. Although the presentation is designed for those diagnosed with breast cancer, it is a great opportunity for caregivers, community outreach workers and nurses. CEUs will be offered. The event will take place on April 26 from 5-6 p.m. at Memorial Learning Center located at 228 W Miller St. in Springfield.
The opportunity is being offered in-person or by webinar.

Distinguished Service Award deadline extended to April 7
There’s still time to submit a nomination for Distinguished Service Award!
HR has extended the deadline for submitting nominations for the annual Distinguished Service Award! Submit your nomination no later than Friday, April 7.
To make a nomination, please submit the Distinguished Service Award nomination form (available on HR Employee Portal) along with an essay about the nominee. The information provided in the essay will be the basis of the evaluation for the selection committee.
