SoftChalk Short Courses in November

If you’re a new SoftChalk user, these live, one-hour online training webinars are just what you need to get started! The training typically includes a presentation and examples, as well as an opportunity for you to ask questions and receive assistance from the instructor.

Today is Professional Development Day!

Professional Development Day is today and is a virtual event with a wide variety of online, largely self-directed, learning and development opportunities. A limited number of live sessions are being offered at specific times, but most sessions are accessible at any time that may be convenient for you. If you are unable to view all the sessions you are interested in today, most sessions will continue to be available after Professional Development Day. Complete Cybersecurity Training by Nov. 6

As a reminder, the cybersecurity training deadline is Nov. 6. If you have not done so yet, please go to https://llcc-il.safecolleges.com to complete your training.

Per board policy “10.4 – Employees’ Role in Security,” cybersecurity it is the responsibility of all users. It is strongly recommended that you complete the training.

Professional Development Day Nov. 3

Professional Development Day is tomorrow, Nov. 3! This will be a virtual event with a wide variety of online, largely self-directed, learning and development opportunities. If you are unable to view all the sessions you are interested in on Nov. 3, most sessions are available now and will continue to be available after Professional Development Day. Link to mandatory training emailed today

In accordance with Board Policy 1.7 and recent amendments to the Illinois Human Rights Act, all active employees, including adjunct instructors, student workers and other contractual and/or temporary employees, are required to complete sexual harassment prevention training on an annual basis. Training is administered online to provide a flexible format in which employees can complete the training and still accommodate their busy schedules. The course contains content that is certified to meet training requirements as required in the Illinois Human Rights Act. As such, all employees are required to complete this course even if you may have recently completed a similar training.

Because this is a mandatory training, we ask all supervisors to work with their staff, including student workers and other part-time, temporary or contractual employees, to find time within their work day, as appropriate and/or applicable, to complete the training. Please follow-up with your employees to ensure that they received the training link and have completed as required.

Today, Nov. 2, all active employees were sent an email, to their LLCC email account, from the college’s training provider, SafeColleges, with your unique link to complete the course. You must have an active LLCC account to login into SafeColleges. If you have not activated your LLCC account, please contact the helpdesk at 217-786-2555 or helpme@llcc.edu for assistance. Since it is an internet-based training, you can access the program 24 hours a day anywhere that you have internet access. It takes approximately 40 minutes to complete the course. Completion of the course must be done within 30 days of receipt of the training email.

Tech tip: Share a file or folder in OneDrive

When you use save your files and folders to Microsoft Office 365 OneDrive or SharePoint, your work is available wherever you are. With Office 365 online apps and Office 2016, you can Share your files with others at LLCC and collaborate in real time using either platform.

  • Edit is the default setting when sharing a file or folder. Remove the Allow editing function to share it as a read only document.
  • When sharing a folder, all permissions will be applied to all documents within the folder.
  • You can share a file or folder with specific people or via a link that when shared, anyone with an active LLCC account can access.

Share a file or folder in Office 365 OneDrive

  1. Select the file or folder by placing a check mark to the left of the file or folder name.
  2. Select the Share icon, the … More actions to the right of the file or folder name or choose the Share link from the menu bar at the top.
  3. To send to specific people, select the drop-down arrow and choose Specific people.
    1. Remove the Allow editing check mark if you want to restrict permissions.
    2. Apply
    3. Search for people to share with by Last Name, First Name. You can add multiple people or a Group Site to share with.
    4. Enter a message in the notes field, as warranted.
    5. Send

Share an open file

Remote Access Knowledge BaseYou can share a document while actively working in the document. Select Share and follow step 3 above, regardless of online or Word desktop application access.
