Each Friday in May, you will have the opportunity to engage with expert presenters that highlight and celebrate being accessible, designing with educational technologies that work for everyone, working toward institutional compliance and designing your course to have a focus on inclusive course design. Not only will you be engaged and hear from experts, you’ll also hear from peers and students. Each Friday begins with a keynote presentation followed by the option of selecting one of three tracks during the Zoom session. Choose to attend a lightning round with four, 15-minute presentations, a panel presentation track or hear more from the keynote presenter. Afterward, engage with participants all month long in the back-channel chat.

LLCC Academic Innovation & eLearning spring 2021 professional development workshops are being offered in three different formats: online, live via Zoom and on-demand. Workshops cover both teaching topics and instructional technology tools. There are also many opportunities, both live and on-demand, to learn to use the new Canvas learning management system. FSI Conference, May 19

This year’s annual FSI: At the Intersection of Teaching, Learning, and Technology Conference, “Rebooting Students’ Experiences,” will be held Wednesday, May 19. The event will once again be held virtually through Zoom. There will be presentations, networking and hands-on training on the use of modern communication and information technologies in education. Registrants may choose to focus on one track or participate in any session in any track: Post-Pandemic Strategies, Inclusive Teaching, Care and Community, and Teaching Tools. The conference brings educators and instructional-technology professionals together from across Illinois and as far away as Canada. This year’s conference features a presentation, “Ch-Ch-Changes: Innovation, Flipping, Empathy and Community,” from LLCC’s very own Laurie Lewis-Fritz, instructor of music.

Virtual teacher training workshop

University of Michigan’s Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies is hosting a free virtual teacher training workshop, “Teaching Water and Environmental Justice: From the Great Lakes to Latin America.” This event will include a series of asynchronous modules and lesson plans for instructors, available to registered attendees beginning on April 17. The live seminar will take place via Zoom on Saturday, April 24 from 1-6 p.m. EST.

OCCRL Equity Academy

This year’s Equity Academy will be held on April 30, 2021, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Its goal is to advance support for leadership that prioritizes equity-driven change during and following the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. D-L Stewart, a professor in the School of Education at Colorado State University, will provide the keynote address. The sessions will focus on advancing collaborative work to close racial equity gaps in Illinois community colleges.

This opportunity is funded by the Illinois Community College Board and open only to community college administrators, faculty, and staff members in Illinois. Register for the OCCRL Equity Academy

Register at no cost for NISOD virtual conference to be held April 28-30

Internal Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence. NISOD. Virtual. April 28-30, 2021.LLCC Academic Services has purchased an institutional license for NISOD’s 2021 International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence to be held virtually April 28-30, 2021. The institutional registration allows all LLCC employees to register at no cost for this event.

Registering for the conference will allow you to engage in 70 live sessions, three general sessions, as well as a series of pre-recorded sessions and countless opportunities to connect with colleagues throughout the event. In addition, you will have access for 12 months to watch sessions you may have missed during the live event.

All you need to do to participate without cost is register for the conference on the NISOD site using your college email address.
