Artificial Intelligence (AI) Online Fall Virtual Summit Nov. 8

LLCC faculty and staff can attend the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Online Fall Virtual Summit for free! In conjunction with National Distance Learning Week, the Instructional Technology Council (ITC) will be hosting the AI Summit on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023. AIeL has purchased an institutional registration, so if you are interested in attending this virtual summit, please complete the online registration form for LLCC faculty and staff.

It will feature specialized tracks in:

  • Student engagement using AI
  • AI innovations in course design, lesson planning and curriculum
  • Administration and AI adoption

ITC has opened the call for presentations or panels, and the deadline to submit is Friday, Sept. 22, 2023.

Online Pedagogy Webinar Series

ICCB is sponsoring a two-part online pedagogy webinar series that begins Tuesday, May 2.

Each session will be led by Tonia Dousay, dean, School of Education, University of Alaska Anchorage.

  • Getting Started With and Refining Online Pedagogy and Practices – May 2, 1-2:30 p.m. CDT – Whether you’re new to online instruction or working to refine skills honed during pandemic-era remote teaching, this session will provide valuable insight into what we do and why we do it with respect to online learning design and teaching.   • Practical Guidance for Online Pedagogy and Practices – May 16, 1-2:30 p.m. CDT – This session will introduce and recommend specific tools to enhance instructor presence, facilitate student autonomy and creativity, and promote authentic assessment in online learning environments. Professional development via LinkedIn Learning

LLCC Human Resources is currently seeking interested staff that may want to participate in a professional development program involving the use of LinkedIn Learning. LinkedIn Learning provides over 18,000 online courses and topics for professional development. Examples of topics include various computer applications (Microsoft 365), communication, office dynamics, emotional intelligence and leadership, just to name a few. This program will be coordinated by Alan Pasley, staff training and development coordinator.

By working with you in the development of a personal professional development plan, you will have access to a training plan allowing you to gain knowledge in areas that you have interest or feel as though you need to develop. Your training will be completed as your availability allows.

To find additional information, examples of courses available, and to apply utilize the Staff Training and Development Portal. Additionally, on May 3 from 2-3 p.m., Alan Pasley will be available in Menard Hall 1179 to provide a demonstration and answer any questions you may have. Chat GPT, a new Artificial Intelligence tool, uses machine learning to generate text in response to a wide range of prompts. There are many questions and concerns about how effective the tool is at generating responses and how its existence will affect education now and into the future. This session will include a demonstration of Chat CPT and a discussion on talking to students about Chat GPT, including ethical considerations related to its use and how faculty may update assignments and assessments based on Chat GPT’s presence. This discussion will also include a conversation about how Chat GPT might be used to enhance teaching and learning. ​​​​​​​

This brown bag session will include drinks and dessert for those in attendance.

Note: Faculty can receive one point toward their Training and Innovation professional development total for successful completion of this workshop.
