College business hours for all offices/departments have been adjusted to 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at all LLCC locations until further notice. The Child Development Center is currently open 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m.

LLCC closed for mid-semester break March 7-15

LLCC will be closed for mid-semester break March 7-15
LLCC will be closed for mid-semester recess Saturday, March 7 through Sunday, March 15. No classes will be held, and all administrative offices at the Springfield campus and LLCC Outreach Centers will be closed. Classes and regular business hours will resume Monday, March 16.

LLCC’s Capital City Training Center and the Illinois Small Business Development Center, located at 130 W. Mason, Springfield, will maintain regular hours.

Retirement reception for Lyn Buerkett

Happy RetirementSave the date for a retirement reception for Lyn Buerkett, director of adult education and literacy. The event will be held Wednesday, April 29 from 2-4 p.m. in Bistro Verde, Workforce Careers Center.  Lyn has been an employee of the college since 1998. Come and wish her well!

First meeting on development of short-term courses today

The Persistence and Completion Taskforce is inviting all interested faculty to share best practices and learn from others by attending meetings to discuss developing short-term courses. We will be hosting three meetings. You may attend for all or part of the meetings. All who have an interest are welcome, especially faculty who will be teaching eight-week courses this fall. If you want to attend all the meetings, that is great! If you can only attend one or two, that is fine. The meetings will all take place in the Robert H. Stephens room in Menard Hall on the following dates:

  • March 5, 3-5 p.m.
  • March 18, 3-5 p.m.
  • March 23, 3-5 p.m.

There is no need to RSVP. Email Kirk.Yenerall@llcc.edu or Chris.Barry@llcc.edu, co-leads of the taskforce with questions.

Take precautions to avoid coronavirus, flu and other flu-like illnesses

Fight Coronavirus and other Flu-like Viruses. Avoid contact with sick people. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 sec. Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue. Then throw the tissue away. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Stay home when you're sick including 24 hours after fever is gone. Clean and disinfect surfaces. Get a flu vaccine. The CDC recommends everyone six months and older get a flu vaccine each season. LLCC. Welcome Max Yanor

Max YanorMax Yanor has recently joined the college as a police officer. He previously worked as a 911 dispatcher for the Chatham Police Department over the past year, and as security for Memorial Hospital and a volunteer EMT and firefighter for the last two years. 24th Annual Illinois Community College Assessment Fair

Lindee Hall, Dawn Towsend and Cindy BurgerLLCC hosted the 24th Annual Illinois Community College Assessment Fair Friday, Feb. 28. With 135 registrants representing 21 different institutions across Illinois, the event shared information on assessment efforts at community colleges throughout the state. David Deitemeyer of Lewis University provided a keynote on “Scenarios and Strategies for Assessment Leaders,” and four concurrent session tracks were available in: assessment technology and process, general education assessment, student services and academic services, and programmatic assessment and curriculum. LLCC faculty and staff were among the presenters at the conference, including: Dr. Gillian Bauer, Dr. Aaron Berkowitz, Barb Bernardi, Cody Cox, David Cox, Dr. David Leitner, Jamie McCoy, Dr. Colin Suchland and Matt Vespa.
