End of the month deposits due by noon Wednesday

The deadline to submit your deposits to the Finance Department is Wednesday, Nov. 29, before noon.  As a reminder, if you’ve taken in funds, it is necessary to submit them and corresponding deposit slips to the Finance Department on a daily basis.

Please hand the deposit to Elyse Calhoun or Robin Ackman as monies should not be left unattended.

Thank You! – LLCC Blood Drive

On behalf of the Central Illinois Blood Center, Student Life would like to thank all those who donated blood on NOv. 16! Thirty-one units of blood were collected. The units collected at the blood drive will go on to potentially save over 90 lives. Check out the next Blood Drive on Jan. 25!

Hablamos Casa Real fundraiser

The LLCC Hablamos Club is hosting a fundraising event today at Casa Real Restaurant in Springfield. Casa Real will donate 20 percent of all sales to the club. Funds earned will be used to raise awareness of Latin culture. Feel free to mention LLCC Hablamos Club today and enjoy the cuisine at Casa Real!

LLCC Student Honors Recital Nov. 29

The LLCC Student Honors Recital will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, in Menard Hall, Room 2250. The recital will feature vocalists and selections on clarinet, piano, classical guitar, bass guitar, drums, timpani and xylophone. The featured performers are taught by Jane Hartman, piano; Jason Waddell, guitar, percussion and voice; Melinda Kaye, voice; and Greg Cohill, clarinet.

UCB contributes to Foundation’s “Pay it Forward” fund

K. C. Narmont of United Community Bank presented a check for $1,089 to Dr. Charlotte Warren, president, last Friday representing proceeds from a UCB casual day. The funds will be used in the  LLCC Foundation’s Pay it Forward fund, which provides emergency assistance to LLCC students.

LLCC closed for Thanksgiving recess Nov. 22-26

LLCC closed for Thanksgiving recess Nov. 22-26LLCC will be closed for Thanksgiving recess Wednesday, Nov. 22 through Sunday, Nov. 26. No classes will be held, and all administrative offices at the Springfield campus and outlying locations in the LLCC district will be closed, with the exceptions of LLCC’s Capital City Training Center and the Illinois Small Business Development Center (ISBDC).

LLCC’s Capital City Training Center will maintain regular office hours on Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, Nov. 24. The ISBDC at LLCC is open 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Nov. 22 and is closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, Nov. 24.

Classes and regular business hours will resume at all locations Monday, Nov. 27.

Loggers finish third at NJCAA national tournament

Congratulations to the Loggers volleyball team, coached by Jim Dietz, who finished third in the NJCAA national tournament Saturday. After losing to #1 Owen, the Loggers upset Parkland 15-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-17, 15-12 for a final record of 37-7.  This was the third year in a row the Loggers reached the national tourney.

LLCC Theatre presents “Alice’s Wonderland” Dec. 8, 9, 10

LLCC Theatre in collaboration with Cutlass Artists will present “Alice’s Wonderland,” a new collaborative adaptation of “Alice in Wonderland” from the text by Lewis Carroll, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 8, 9 and 10.

The production is directed and adapted by Mark Hardiman, LLCC professor of theatre. Saturday’s performance will feature a pre-show discussion led by Dr. Deborah Brothers, LLCC professor of English.

The production will be staged in the lower level of Sangamon Hall South. Seating is limited to 20 patrons per night, with tickets, at $15 each, available at www.cutlassartists.com. Tickets are only sold online or by calling the customer service number 866-710-8942. They will be available up to one hour prior to performances.
