Laura Anderson, assistant professor of art, was featured in the State Journal-Register’s Someone to Know section. Her mixed media painting exhibit, “elemental,” is now open in LLCC’s James S. Murray Gallery. The public is invited to view the exhibit weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Sept. 12 and attend a reception on Thursday, Aug. 22 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Scott Queener, Ph.D., director of student success; Alison Mills, director of financial aid, and Lynn Whalen, executive director of public relations and marketing, were interviewed for an upcoming college planning series and resource guide to be featured on Springfieldmoms.org.

Sean Keeley, culinary specialist, is the author of today’s Epicuriosity 101 column in the State Journal-Register, “My favorite cooking shows.”

Terri Branham, adjunct instructor, hospitality and culinary arts, served as the Cake Classic judge at the Logan County Fair. In this competition, all cakes are baked on-site, and the bakers are  blue-ribbon winners from regular cake categories in the fair’s culinary entries. The event was covered by the Herald News.

Thom Whalen, professor of art, is featured in the article “Circus of details: There’s no limit to the inspiration for Thom Whalen’s artwork” in the Aug. 8 edition of the Decatur Herald and Review. Thom currently has an exhibit, “Frenzy,” at the Madden Arts Center in Decatur.
