Show off your artwork at the LLCC Art After Hours exhibit this fall

Show it off by participating in the Springfield Area Arts Council’s Arts After Hours (AAH) program (formerly known as On My Own Time). This unique program provides LLCC faculty and staff an opportunity to display original art they have created outside the office. There will be an in-house exhibit at LLCC followed by a city-wide exhibit showcasing first place award-winning artwork from all participating businesses, agencies and institutions.

Faculty and staff may enter up to three artworks each. There are 13 categories of artwork. Works previously entered in AAH/OMOT or created prior to 2021 are not eligible. The artist fee is $10 per artwork submitted. The fee assists SAAC with costs of the AAH program. Artwork entry form and fees will need to be submitted by Monday, Sept. 25 to the LLCC coordinator (Misty Schierer). Artwork is due to the LLCC coordinator by Monday, Oct. 16.

Metal ringLLCC’s in-house exhibit will be featured on the LLCC-Springfield campus in October/November. The artist of the favorite piece at LLCC will win the LLCC People’s Choice Award and receive a $100 Visa gift card courtesy of the Philip and Mary Kathryn Trutter Museum.

The city-wide exhibit at the Springfield Art Association’s Nelson Family Gallery (Dec. 2-20) will showcase first place award-winning artwork from all participating businesses, agencies and institutions. At the previous OMOT in 2021, two LLCC employees had three pieces of art move on to the citywide exhibit!

LLCC entries earn two city-wide On My Own Time (OMOT) ribbons

This year, 87 OMOT artists submitted 186 entries at 12 in-house exhibits in the Springfield area. LLCC employees were awarded two ribbons at the city-wide exhibit on display through Saturday, Nov. 20 at the Springfield Art Association, 700 N. 4th St. LLCC winners are: Basketry: Second Place – Lindee Hall, “Full of Love” and Photography, Second Place – Chris McDonald, “Curious Kit”

Congratulations to all of the talented LLCC colleagues participating in this year’s exhibits!

We would also like to thank those that helped with the LLCC OMOT Exhibit: Debbie Bell, Karen Sanders, Lynn Whalen and Thom Whalen. We so appreciate their support and assistance! OMOT is a program of the Springfield Area Arts Council. The purpose of OMOT is to help local businesses, agencies, educational and medical institutions identify and celebrate the artistic talents of people they employ.

Three first place ribbons awarded to OMOT entries!

Painting of sunflowerA panel of judges from the Springfield Area Arts Council completed their review on Friday of LLCC’s “On My Own Time” art exhibit. Three first place ribbons were awarded! Several other ribbons were also awarded.

All are invited to view LLCC’s “On My Own Time” exhibit which runs through Thursday, Oct. 28. The exhibit is at the main level of Sangamon Hall in the display niche in the hallway across from the library entrance. The exhibit features 13 pieces of artwork from LLCC faculty and staff.
