CCTC seeking participants in class pilot
O’Shea Builder’s Director of Employee Development and Engagement, Tess Fyalka, will be piloting a leadership training class at the Capital City Training Center and is looking for individuals to participate and provide her with feedback on how she can fine tune the class. There is no cost to register as it is a pilot program.
Topic: Building Effective Teams
Date/Time: Thursday, April 14, 1-4 p.m.
Participants: Those who must lead teams
Program type: Highly Interactive training experience
Attendees will participate in a team simulation experience designed to help them better understand the following:
- What makes an effective team
- How to create an effective team
- How to minimize dysfunction and build a positive team culture
- How to recognize and better manage the 5 key stages of effective teams

Massage Clinic at CCTC this spring
LLCC Massage Therapy students will be hosting a massage clinic at the Capital City Training Center on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from April 7 – June 21.
- Appointments are available at 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 8 p.m.
- The cost is $20 for a 60 minute massage and $25 for a 90 minute massage.
- Call 217.524.6749 to schedule an appointment.
- Payment is due when the appointment is scheduled and is non-refundable.
LLCC students will perform their clinical work using Swedish Massage. Students are supervised by the clinic instructor who is a licensed massage therapist.
In need of hanging file folders?
LLCC-Capital City Training Center has an abundance of hanging file folders after cleaning out old files. Anyone interested in obtaining folders should contact Lyndsey Craigmiles at 782-7436.

May 20, 21, 27, 28 – appointments may be scheduled from 6-7 p.m. and 8-9 p.m.
June 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18 – appointments may be scheduled 6-7 p.m. and 7:30-9 p.m.
CCTC offers new veterinary assistant program

Sessions B, C & E will meet at the Capital City Training Center from 8:15 a.m. – 4 p.m. the first day, and 8:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. the second day. Coffee will be served from 8 – 8:15 a.m. both days and lunch will be served on the first day only.
For session D, the first day (March 24) will be held at LLCC on Professional Development Day and will be an all-day session (8:15 a.m. – 4 p.m.). The second day will be held at CCTC from 8:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

LLCC participates in Medical Jobs Forum
LLCC healthcare and recruitment representatives participated in a Medical Jobs Forum sponsored by the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce and Faith Coalition for the Common Good Monday evening, June 30 at Union Baptist Church. Approximately 85 individuals attended to hear presentations and meet with healthcare employers and training providers. Representing LLCC were Cynthia Maskey, dean of health professions; Ruth Bixby, director, occupational therapy assistant program; Janelle Murphy, director, radiography program; Janice Lovekamp, director, surgical tech program; Laurel Bretz, program coordinator, Capital City Training Center, along with CCTC instructors Sophia Herring, phlebotomy and Stephanie Hale, pharmacy tech; and Mac Warren, assistant director, and Lynn Whalen, executive director, public relations and marketing.
CCTC dental assistants participate in Dentistry From the Heart
On Friday, June 13, the dental assistant students at Capital City Training Center volunteered their time to help with “Dentistry From the Heart” at Advanced Dental Care. They gained knowledge that will be useful with their externships approaching.
