On Monday, March 31, Jolene Adams, culinary arts adjunct instructor, will provide a cooking demonstration for University of Illinois Extension nutrition programs. Her audience will be teens that are participating in the SNAP-ED grant program. The goal is to teach them healthy cooking techniques. Jolene will prepare three recipes and will include introductory chopping skills, food safety and sanitation.

They used Illinois products on display to make crepes.

The Culinary Arts Program and Culinary Institute will be at the Illinois Products Expo this Sunday, March 2 in the Orr Building of the Illinois State Fair Grounds. Representatives Nancy Sweet, John Kidd, Jolene Adams and Jay Kitterman will be doing demonstrations, providing samples and promiting the Culinary programs available at LLCC from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please stop by and see us!

The Litchfield Student Club raised $150.00 for Toys for Tots this semester through a bake sale and water sales. Club members presented a check to the Montgomery County Toys for Tots Chairperson, Chris Gutierrez. The money will be used to help the organization provide toys for 400 local families in need this holiday season. Chris McDonald, Ph.D., professor, political science, presented a Veterans Day talk to more than 100 WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm and Afghanistan veterans and family members Nov. 12 at the Athens VFW/American Legion. He spoke about a WWI ambulance driver from Springfield (Dr. McDonald has a book on this subject to be published soon) and the 33rd Div. Illinois National Guard.
