Chris McDonald, Ph.D., professor, political science, presented an hour-long lecture Dec. 13 at the Illinois National Guard Museum for the 100th Anniversary of the “Christmas truce.” Several of the reenactors are current LLCC students.

LLCC-Litchfield hosts Live Line demonstration event
LLCC-Litchfield, U of I Extension, Ameren, MJM Cooperative, and Rural Electric Cooperative sponsored a “Live Line” demonstration Dec. 5. Fifth grade students from Raymond, Litchfield, Staunton and Mt. Olive schools gathered in the LLCC-Litchfield Charles M. Long Auditorium to find out about electricity safety. The event was featured with an article and photo in The Hillsboro Journal-News.

LLCC-Litchfield staff dressed up as “LLCC Degree Trees” and walked in the 2014 Litchfield Chamber of Commerce Christmas parade the evening of Nov. 21. The “Degree Trees” disbursed LLCC pens/pencils and candy to the crowd.

Lorie McDonald, director of LLCC-Hillsboro/Litchfield, was the guest speaker at the Hillsboro Rotary Club and Litchfield Women’s Club meetings. Lorie spoke to both groups about programs, enrollment, dual credit classes, new initiatives and challenges at LLCC-Litchfield & Hillsboro. The Hillsboro Journal-News featured Lorie in a photograph with LLCC trustee and Hillsboro Rotary Club member Jerry Wesley and also in a photo with members of the Women’s Club.

Martha Miller, adjunct English instructor, is having a book signing for her latest mystery book, “Widow,” on Saturday, Nov. 29 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Prairie Archives, 522 E Adams, Springfield.

Professor Jaramillo to read from new novel Thursday evening
John Paul Jaramillo, professor, English, will read from his book and new novel Thursday, Nov. 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the H.D. Smith Gallery of the Hoogland Center for the Arts.
