The “Head Start” Ag Safety Program, in which a group of LLCC ag students were trained and certified last spring in subjects such as confined space entry, hazardous materials and safety procedures, has won the 2013 Illinois Council of Community College Administrators (ICCCA) Innovation Award.  The training was provided by the Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association (IFCA) and the Asmark Institute in Bloomington. The goals of the training were to educate students about industry regulations and reduce farm accidents.  Rich Teeter, assistant professor of agriculture, coordinated the program which will now be offered to  other community colleges and further unite education and industry.
