Lynn Whalen installed as NCMPR president

Lynn Whalen, executive director, PRM, was installed as president of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) at its recent national conference.

Lynn and Karen Sanders, executive director, LLCC Foundation, made a presentation at the conference entitled “Marketing’s role in the ‘Big Gift,’ detailing collaboration on the cultivation and announcement of the $18 million gift last year benefiting the LLCC ag program.

NCMPR, an affiliate council of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), is the leading professional development association exclusively serving those working in communication at two-year community and technical colleges.

We extend our condolences to Shawn Allen, student records evaluator, on the passing of her mother, Virginia Melton, on March 23. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 28 from 5-7 p.m. at Elinger-Kunz and Parks Funeral Home. A service will be held on Friday, March 29 at 10 a.m. Read the obituary.

LLCC closed for mid-semester break March 9-17

LLCC will be closed for mid-semester break March 9-17.
LLCC will be closed for mid-semester recess Saturday, March 9 through Sunday, March 17. No classes will be held, and all administrative offices at the Springfield campus and LLCC Outreach Centers will be closed. Classes and regular business hours will resume Monday, March 18.

LLCC-Capital City Training Center, 130 W. Mason, Springfield, and the Illinois Small Business Development Center at LLCC in Springfield will maintain regular hours.

Staff updates

The following LLCC staff members have accepted new positions at the college:

Jessie BlackburnJessie Blackburn is the new director of LLCC-Litchfield. She previously served as interim director, LLCC-Litchfield and academic success professional in the LLCC Center for Academic Success. She has been with the college since 2014.

 

 

 

Alison MillsAlison Mills is our new director of financial aid. She has been with LLCC since 2000, most recently serving as financial aid coordinator.

 

 

 

Marina WirsingMarina Wirsing is our new career development professional. She was previously the program assistant in LLCC Student Life and has been at the college since 2016.
