Mack Alexander is a new building custodian for the college. He formerly worked as a building superintendent for Futures in Rehab Management and in housekeeping for St. John’s. Mack can be reached at mack.alexander@llcc.edu.
Brady Edwards has recently joined LLCC as a building custodian. He most recently worked seven years as a custodian for the North Mac School District. Brady can be reached at brady.edwards@llcc.edu.
Jermain Jefferson also joined the college as a building custodian. He owns and operates a detail shop in Springfield and previously worked as a line cook at Red Robin for six years. Jermain can be reached at jermain.jefferson@llcc.edu.
Attorney Rick Grenzebach administers the oath of office to newly elected LLCC Student Trustee Aaliyah Kissick and Trustee Samantha Raymond, re-elected Trustee and new Board Chair Wayne Rosenthal, and Trustee Vicki Davis.
The LLCC Board of Trustees welcomed three newly elected members, chose new board officers and honored retiring trustees at last night’s meeting.
Sworn in as new trustees were Vicki Davis of Riverton and Samantha Raymond of Springfield, along with new student trustee Aaliyah Kissick of Athens. Also taking the oath of office was Wayne Rosenthal of Morrisonville, who was re-elected to his seat on the board.
Davis, Raymond and Rosenthal will serve four-year terms, and Kissick will serve for one year.
Rosenthal, who had served two years as vice chair, was chosen as the new chair of the board. Vice chair is Ken Elmore of Waggoner, formerly secretary of the board, and the new secretary is Gordon Gates of Springfield. Other ongoing members of the board are Craig Findley of Jacksonville and Jeff Fulgenzi of Sherman.
Three trustees were honored as they retired from the board: Dennis Shackelford of Rochester, who served for six years, including the last two as chair; Justin Reichert of Springfield, also a former chair of the board, who served as trustee for 10 years; and student trustee Marie Hountondji, who is graduating from LLCC this May after a one year term.
Eight individuals serve on the LLCC Board of Trustees, seven elected from the college district and the eighth elected from among LLCC students. Trustees represent residents of the college district to assure that the college is providing programs and services that meet the educational needs of the communities it serves. The board operates in accordance with the guidelines established under the Illinois Public Community College Act and functions as the college’s policy-making body.

We extend our condolences to Joni Bernahl, director, IT service and support, on the passing of her mother-in-law, Roberta Lea Bernahl, on April 13. Visitation will be held Friday, April 19 from 9-10:30 a.m. at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
