David Leitner, assistant professor, English, successfully defended his dissertation Friday, April 10. His dissertation was titled: “Harlem in Shakespeare and Shakespeare in Harlem: The Sonnets of Claude McKay, Countee Cullen, Langston Hughes, and Gwendolyn Brooks. Congratulations, Dr. Leitner!

Congratulations to Dr. Roberta (Beth) Wiediger, professor, psychology and Dr. Matt Wiediger, psychology adjunct, on the birth of Matthew Russell Varão Wiediger born Thursday, April 9 at 10:01 p.m. Matthew weighed 8 pounds and measured 22 inches and was welcomed by older sisters, Melanie and Amanda.

Visitation is at the Staab Funeral Home in Springfield on Wednesday, April 1,  from 4-7 p.m., with funeral services there on Thursday at 10 a.m.
