David Leitner, assistant professor, English, successfully defended his dissertation Friday, April 10. His dissertation was titled: “Harlem in Shakespeare and Shakespeare in Harlem: The Sonnets of Claude McKay, Countee Cullen, Langston Hughes, and Gwendolyn Brooks. Congratulations, Dr. Leitner!

Congratulations to Dr. Roberta (Beth) Wiediger, professor, Beth Wiediger's sonpsychology and Dr. Matt Wiediger, psychology adjunct, on the birth of Matthew Russell Varão Wiediger born Thursday, April 9 at 10:01 p.m. Matthew weighed 8 pounds and measured 22 inches and was welcomed by older sisters, Melanie and Amanda.

Epicurean Club cookie sale, noon–2 p.m. (or until sold out), Baking Lab of Workforce Careers Center. Assorted cookies include chocolate chip, peanut butter, sugar, and white chocolate and macadamia nut. Boxes of assorted cookies will sell for $3 for ½ dozen or $6 for 1 dozen.

Our sympathy to Karen Riddell

We extend our sincere sympathy to Karen Riddell, program assistant, Adult Education and Literacy, whose son, Larry Reavis, passed away on Sunday, March 29.

Visitation is at the Staab Funeral Home in Springfield on Wednesday, April 1,  from 4-7 p.m., with funeral services there on Thursday at 10 a.m.
