Feminist Activist Coalition: monologues sought
The Feminist Activist Coalition is issuing a call for theatrical monologues or ensemble pieces depicting personal stories about identity for an original production, titled “Cis-iety Interrupted.” The piece may be either comedic or serious. We intend some performances will include adult content. While anyone of any age may write and submit a piece, performers must be at least 18 years old. “50 Years of the Lamp” exhibit in Murray Gallery
“50 Years of the Lamp” curated by Tim McKenzie, assistant professor of journalism and humanities, is now on display in the James S. Murray Gallery on the upper level of Menard Hall. Don’t miss this look back at the college’s history, both hard news and humor, through the eyes of student journalists.
A reception for the exhibit will be held Tuesday, Jan. 17 from 5-7 p.m. Current and past journalism students are especially invited.

Campus Visit Day is Feb. 20
If you know of a student preparing for college or interested in attending LLCC, please invite them to Campus Visit Day Monday, Feb. 20 (Presidents Day).

High school students and their parents, along with new and returning adult learners, are invited. The free event is being held at the LLCC Springfield campus, with two sessions scheduled, 10 a.m.-noon and 5-7 p.m. Check in at A. Lincoln Commons will open 30 minutes prior to each session beginning. Reserved parking for Campus Visit Day visitors will be available in lots 7 and 8 near the Trutter Center. Registration for Campus Visit Day is available at www.llcc.edu/cvd or by calling 217.786.2577.
Campus Visit Day is a special campus preview event designed for individuals interested in starting or finishing a college degree or certificate. Both morning and evening sessions include an informational presentation on how to get started with the enrollment process, how to pay for college and other information relevant to becoming a successful college student. Next, visitors can view exhibits and speak with LLCC representatives of academic programs and student services. Tours also are offered of Menard and Sangamon Halls, and the Workforce Careers Center. Refreshments are provided by LLCC’s Culinary Arts program.
