Kevin Lust, director, Illinois Small Business Development Center at LLCC, was interviewed Feb. 21 by WCIA TV on the effects of a proposed minimum wage increase on small businesses.
Laurie Clemons, academic advisor, was interviewed Feb. 21 by the State Journal-Register regarding the Frederick Douglass Soup and Stories presentation, part of the LLCC African-American History Month observance.
Jamie Stout, director, Community Education, will be interviewed today on WICS on the ALL Winter Celebration.
LLCC honors founders at 50th anniversary event
Lincoln Land Community College’s current leaders honored the individuals responsible for establishing the college half a century ago at the Founders’ Day Ceremony Feb. 18.
Voters in February 1967 approved the establishment of Lincoln Land District 526 with the mission of providing area citizens with affordable, accessible higher education and career training programs. “Today we celebrate the vision of our founders, the dedication of our educators, and the success of our students over the last half century,” Craig Findley, chair of the LLCC Board of Trustees, told the crowd of approximately 200. Mr. Findley recognized Eldon Greenwood, the last surviving member of LLCC’s founding Board of Trustees, and Bill Ames, who was the first student in line when the college opened for classes in September 1968. “50 FORWARD! The First 50 Years of Lincoln Land Community College” now available in LLCC Bookstore
The new book, “50 FORWARD! The First 50 Years of Lincoln Land Community College” by Dr. Betty Kyger Workman is now on sale in the LLCC Bookstore. The cost, including tax, is $20.17 in honor of LLCC’s 50th year. Dr. Workman will sign copies of the book following the Founders’ Day ceremony which begins at 1 p.m. this Saturday afternoon in the Student Union.

Take your Valentine to Chili’s and support the Honors Program Student Organization!
The Honors Program Student Organization Chili’s Fundraiser continues throughout the month of February. If you show our voucher when you go to Chili’s (dine-in or carry out), they will donate 15 percent of your bill to us! The funds will be used to help pay for our annual Chicago Museums Day Trip. There are three easy ways to get your voucher:
- Check your mailbox this week (paper and ink for these printed vouchers were donated by a faculty member)
- Check bulletin boards around campus for printed vouchers.
- Click left for a JPEG file which you can copy and save to your smartphone. Chili’s will accept electronic copies of the voucher!
