LLCC radiography program receives new digital imaging detector from HSHS St. John’s

Officials of LLCC thanked HSHS St. John’s Hospital Aug. 2 for the gift of a new digital detector imaging system for the LLCC associate degree radiography lab.

“HSHS is proud to partner with the LLCC radiography program to enhance students’ training and education,” said Stephen Sabo, system director of capital equipment at HSHS and 1988 LLCC radiography graduate (pictured with Dr. Charlotte Warren, LLCC president). “Staying current with the latest, emerging technology positively affects patient care.”

“We thank HSHS St. John’s for this generous gift, which will allow our students to practice on the same state-of-the-art equipment they will find on the job,” said Dr. Charlotte Warren, president of LLCC.

VALIC representative on campus

Today, Aug. 1, Michael Kaiser from VALIC will be on campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the VP Conference Room. A representative will be on campus again on Aug. 15. David Jones from VALIC will be on campus that day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the VP Conference Room.

Teen Career Launch

Samantha Reif with Career Launch teensTeens in the Boys and Girls Club of Central Illinois had their final Career Launch session of the summer at LLCC yesterday. They spent the afternoon on campus learning about geology from Samantha Reif and careers from Michelle Burger and Chris Barry. The teens learned about minerals that can be found in food and household items and how science is important to many career fields. They even created paper models to better understand earthquakes and types of faults! They wrapped up the day with a review of the many careers they explored while at LLCC and how education is a pathway to reaching their career goals.

Our sympathy to Abbas Meigooni

We extend our sympathy to Dr. Abbas Meigooni, professor of mathematics, on the recent passing of his sister, Sima Meigooni. Funeral arrangements will be accorded in Iran.

Teen Career Launch

The teens in the Boys and Girls Club of Central Illinois’ Career Launch spent yesterday afternoon on campus learning about culinary programs and careers from Nancy Sweet, Jolene Adams and Sean Keeley. The teens learned about the many aspects of food preparation from food safety to presentation. They even had the opportunity to prepare a meal that included frozen fruit smoothies, cherry and tahini energy balls, grilled vegetable wraps with hummus and fresh mozzarella, zucchini chips and tabbouleh salad!
