Cardboard Boat Regatta Postponed until Oct. 11

Cardboard Boat Regatta. Lincoln Land Community College.Due to expected rain today, the third annual Cardboard Boat Regatta has been postponed until Friday, Oct. 11. Check in will be 9-10 a.m. with the race starting at 11 a.m.

The date change will give teams more time to fortify their watercraft.

The boats will be on display on the lawn west of the Helen Hamilton Center prior to the race. Awards will be given in such categories as fastest boat, best design, LLCC spirit and Titanic!

Final day for KUDOS nominations

Lincoln Land Community College KUDOS: Key or Unique Demonstrations of Outstanding ServiceToday is the final day to submit KUDOS nominations.

Key or Unique Demonstrations of Outstanding Service award nominations are open! They will be accepted through Friday, Sept. 27. Faculty and staff can nominate a deserving colleague by submitting the KUDOS form (also available by clicking on the KUDOS tab in the upper-right corner of LincIn). Please use a Chrome or Firefox browser when completing this form. The KUDOS awards will be announced Friday, October 11.

The KUDOS awards are an informal way to recognize the special contributions — small and large — made by faculty and staff that create the positive environment that is LLCC.

LLCC Adult Education at the ICCB Forum for Excellence

Mike AkudaEarlier this month LLCC Adult Education student Mike Akuda represented LLCC on a student panel in Peoria at the ICCB Forum for Excellence. Mike is from the Democratic republic of Congo and enrolled at LLCC to improve his English language skills. Mike then completed LLCC’s Digital Marketing and E-Commerce certificate in June 2024 and utilizes his news skills to run his two online businesses.

Reminder: Walktober Starts on October 1st!

The newest walking challenge, Walktober, kicks off on Tuesday, Oct. 1! This is a great opportunity to get outside, enjoy the beautiful fall weather, and boost your health through a friendly competition.

Human Resource News – Did You HeaR?

Blue horn with the words - Did you hear?Did you HeaR that employees are invited to attend a FREE Health Screening and Health Fair each year? This screening is available to benefit eligible employees and includes blood work and a flu vaccine.

  • The blood test will provide information about cholesterol levels, kidney function, anemia, and more.
  • Employees also have the option to add on additional tests for a fee including blood type, Vitamin D levels, Thyroid function, and more.

All employees additionally have access to the CHC Wellbeing portal to view lab results, attend webinars, read articles and sign up for monthly newsletters. Employees who complete the health risk assessment and participate in the health screening are then eligible to receive a $50 gift card.

Join the upcoming annual screening being held on Thursday, Oct. 10 and Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 7-11:30 a.m. in the Student Union. Any questions can be sent to HR@llcc.edu.
