Lisa Volk-Draper joined LLCC Oct. 2 as chemical hygiene officer and lab supervisor. She comes to the college after approximately 15 years with SIU School of Medicine as a lab supervisor and researcher in the field of pre-clinical breast cancer. Lisa earned a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology/microbiology from Missouri State University and a master’s degree in molecular biology, microbiology and biochemistry from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Rebekah began Sept. 18 as LLCC’s nursing retention coordinator. She previously worked at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital (formerly known as Passavant Area Hospital). She earned an associate degree in nursing from Lewis and Clark Community College, a bachelor’s degree from MacMurray, and has certifications in med surg, cardiovascular and progressive care. She is also very active in the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses.
Sarah is the college’s new PATH program navigator and began work on Oct. 2. She comes to LLCC after working as a talent sourcer and Colleague referral program manager in talent acquisition for Memorial Health. Sarah earned a bachelor’s degree in communication and a certificate in nonprofit organization at University of Illinois Springfield.
Drew joined the college Oct. 2 as building custodian, working the overnight shift. He has worked in maintenance for over 12 years, most recently at Butler Funeral Home.
Kathy Szamocki joined the college Aug. 7 as program assistant, social sciences and business. She will be working with the early childhood education program. Most recently, she served as the social media coordinator for St. Joseph the Worker Parish. Kathy studied office system technologies and earned an associate in applied science from Oakton Community College.
Ashley Krzesinski joined the college Aug. 21 as student records evaluator. She taught junior high math for 10 years at St. Agnes and most recently served as a program student advisor at University of Illinois Springfield. Ashley earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in education from Lewis University.
Kassie Thompson, joined the college Aug. 7 as accounting technician disbursements. She is an LLCC alum and previously worked at Security Bank as an accounting associate. Kassie is also working on a bachelor’s degree in accounting from SIUC.
Patty Mendoza, joined the college July 24 as director, adult education and literacy. She previously worked at Iowa Valley Community College for 11 years in various capacities within adult literacy. Patty earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in organizational leadership with an emphasis in business.
Lindsay Shelton, recently joined the college as program assistant, PATH. She previously worked as an occupational therapy assistant at Memorial and most recently as the pre-K coordinator for Ball-Chatham School District. Lindsay is an LLCC alum who graduated from the OTA program and earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Vicki Sutker, academic success professional, joined LLCC July 17. She previously taught high school sciences, most recently at Rochester. Vicki earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences with a minor in chemistry from Illinois State University.
Megan Bierbrodt, program assistant, Workforce Equity Initiative, joined LLCC July 3. She previously worked as a billing specialist/sales coordinator for an IHG company in the hospitality industry. She also has experience working in student mental health at the Labette Center for Mental Health Services. Megan studied psychology at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.
Andre Rye, student success coach, joined LLCC June 19. He previously worked as a family and community engagement (FACE) liaison for District 186 at Springfield High School. Prior to that, he worked with students at Southeast Highschool and Springfield Urban League. Andre earned a bachelor’s degree in business and economics from Benedictine University.
