Shanda Byer, assistant director, LLCC Beardstown, and several students were interviewed by the State Journal-Register Dec. 11 on ESL classes and other services offered to immigrant students.

Bob Howard, director, Truck Driver Training; Julie Rourke, director, Workforce Development; and two students were interviewed by the State Journal-Register Dec. 11 on their participation in the grant-funded program for long-term unemployed persons providing training in the transportation, distribution and logistics industry.

Jay Kitterman, director, Culinary Institute, was interviewed on the WICS Midday program about Culinary Institute upcoming classes and gift certificates available for the holidays.

Notice from Finance Department

A reminder that the cut-off date to turn in expenditures to the Finance Department for payment is this Friday, Dec, 13, 2013.  This will be the last check mailing until Jan. 17, 2014 (for which expenditures are due Jan. 13).

Condolences to Peggy Goetsch

Our sincere sympathy to Peggy Goetsch, professor of biology, on the passing of her father, David H. Phipps, Dec. 8.  Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 22 from 2-4 p.m. at St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln, followed by a short memorial service.

Dr. Chris McDonald, professor of political science, was interviewed by WICS Dec. 6 on the passing of Nelson Mandela. Chris was discussing Mandela’s legacy with his LLCC-Taylorville class and allowed the reporter to sit in on the discussion.

Culinary students to host dinner and lunch next week for student scholarships

We now have a menu! Click HERE to view what we’re serving! LLCC Culinary Students are hosting a dinner and a lunch next week in Bistro Verde to raise money for student scholarships! The meals are prepared and served by Food Production 1 students with rolls and dessert by Baking and Pastry classes.

Monday 12/9 dinner: 6:30 pm or 7 pm seating and Wednesday 12/11 lunch: 11:30 am or Noon seating. Email or see Nancy Sweet for reservations at nancy.sweet@llcc.edu or 786-4613. Reservations required.
