EHST Safety Tip of the Month

The December/January Safety Tip brought to you by the Environmental Health & Saftey Team:

Wintertime snow, ice and cold temperatures bring an increased risk of injury. Now is the time to start thinking what you can do to minimize the risk of personal injury in the winter months ahead.

Snow and ice on the pavement:

  • Watch for areas where ice tends to form.
  • Limit walking to designated walkways as much as possible. Do not take shortcuts over snow piles and in areas where snow and ice removal are not feasible.

Working in cold temperatures:

  • Wear layers of loose clothing and avoid tight clothing, as it can restrict blood circulation.
  • Make sure to properly cover your ears, face, hands and feet.
